Last week we continued reading and writing free verse poetry. We read our poems in small groups so that we could get feedback from peers. We used the feedback to revise and strengthen our poems. We read books about forest animals, plants and habitats and followed up with some writing and drawing reflecting on what we'd learned. On Thursday afternoon we walked to B Street Trail so that we could compare and contrast it with Gales Creek Campground. Second graders continued to practice subtracting numbers with up to 3-digits. They have been drawing place value discs and place value charts to help keep track of whether or not they need to bundle a hundred or a ten in order to subtract. Second graders can complete any homework through module 4, lesson 29. First graders completed Module 3, measurement and data. And, we started module 4, learning about place value with tens and ones. First graders can complete all homework through module 4, lesson 2.
Reminder: There is no school this Friday, May 20th. It is a grading day for teachers.
